It’s so true that disability changes our lives, but doesn’t end possibilities. It does end some/a lot of possibilities that can make it feel like it’s more about loss than anything, but it truly does open possibilities that we wouldn’t have even imagined beforehand.
Thank you for getting it, David…life is so much different than I imagined it would be, and there’s been grief around that, but that’s okay, too. Just trying to keep moving forward. :)
Thanks for writing this, made me realize I haven't been asking any questions. i feel like every time I set an intention to make progress in some direction. the universe (or forces of some kind) serve me a helping of , . where ya think you're going?, and I'm stuck again.
Another beautifully written and heartfelt essay that at its core speaks to us all, irrespective of disability status.
Shouldn't we all ask ourselves these questions about possibilities instead of only constraints as we move through life? It's rare that our future ends up being what we had mapped out or expected (or even wanted) in our youth. And, we have to adapt to those changes (some for the better, and some not) in order to fully live the life that we actually have.
So glad you've found YOUR voice and are sharing it (and, proud of you, too!).
(I'll never be even "a polished amateur dancer," either. 😅)
So nice to see you, Andrea…thank you for your comment! Even knowing to look for possibilities, I still have to remind myself sometimes to take my own advice. It’s so easy to get stuck on what isn’t working. I’m getting better at it, though. xo
Managing our best and worst impulses is both work and a choice for sure. (Not an "on or off" switch.) Nor is it necessarily a linear path. But, we can also get better at it with practice.
(Although I don't always comment, I do always read your blogs and get something from them! ♥️)

Even knowing all this, I still get stuck sometimes. Now I've put it out there in writing and I can't just say "I forgot", lol. :)
Beautifully written and articulated…thank you 🙏💛
